Who really wears the 'Shakara' pants?

Is it just me or do guys of nowadays have WAAYY too much shakara??? Once upon a time (which seems like a very long time ago) boys used to actually SWEAT before they got a babe. I mean actually physically sweat! before they got a girl or a wife. I'm talking about back in the day when men were  made to carry out physical tasks to ensure that they were fit for a girl. In fact in some cultures some men were seriously flogged before they could marry a girl. lets fast forward a couple of years to civilisation where men were not brutaly abused or anything like *even though I still think they should be! I mean, who's gonna fight for me if some thug tries to snatch my new LV purse?* that but they still had to put in effort to woo the babe at least by doing things like carrying her books, fixing her car, taking her out, buying little presents and so on. But it seems all that has been blown to the wind, left behind in our parents age, neglected and forgotten!!! Sigh. If someone had told me before i got to the toasting age that things would have gotten to this stage I would have laughed and told them about Biodun in jss1a who voluntarily did my maths homework for me and even went to the tuck shop for me when I couldn't be bothered to go, just for the chance to talk to me and when we  eventually got phones he doubled his efforts to get my number. Ahh, yes those were the good old days.. Things were rosy for us girls.. Imagine the rude awakening I got when almost recently I dropped the phone on  a certain 'gentleman' cos I was angry and the response I got was less than encouraging.. I patiently waited for the bobo to call me back begging and pleading for forgiveness but lo and behold no call came oo, not even a text! Or a flash sef! Not even a bloody please call me back message so at least I'll know he ran out of credit or something sha.. I went to bed thinking by the time I woke up I'll have like 5 missed calls and 2 messages at least.. Its safe to say I was JONZING! In capitals sef.. Bobo had fashied!! Next I heard he was with some other eager and available chick.. I was like whhhhaaaaatttt??!! As wizkid would say - it was dream. lol. Little did I know that that would be my first of many experiences with boys paying me back in my own coin.. After sometime I was forced to sit down quietly and evaluate my 'shakara skills' and this question came up, who is really to blame for boys' sudden growth of counter-shakara wings? Sadly the answer was none other than us females! Yup! We brought this upon ourselves.. How, you might ask??.... Desperation! Thats how.. Yes, I said the D word.. Laaaddiiieess, when will you learn to stop under estimating guys?? Don't you know they sense the thirst??? No really I'm tired of all these thirsty bitches *excuse my language* spoiling everything for us better girls. It's like guys have realised that what they can't get from girl A, girl B is willing and able to give. Please correct me if I'm wrong, but unless you have a good man, I mean a really good man, the chances of him chasing after you like a puppy to its master are really really slim! And I really don't blame him because nowadays it seems like we're are the ones doing all the chasing and toasting. I really don't know who told babes that it was ok to ask a guy out or even ask for his number/pin?! It seems so absurd to me! I blame all those useless magazines that encourage it *guys like a girl who is outgoing... Outgoing my ass!!* Moral of this rant? Ladiesss please! I beg you in the name of God! STOP chasing boys and let them chase you cos at the end of the day, it's your self-worth that's at risk. If you go all out to 'hook' a guy, he will only go all out to break your heart. Give him something to fight for, something to miss, and in extreme situations, something to suffer for. Trust me, it might sound really old fashioned and feminist, but it works, it really does. So, goodluck ladies! Make a guy sweat today, and you're on your way to a longer lasting relationship! :)

*Disclaimer - Guys this blog entry is not intended to paint you as mugu's or maga *even though no offence some of you are, I'm sorry :|* Just basically letting you know, if you want a good girl you gotta put in some work!

Oh yeah, P.s. Ladies, do not and I mean under no circumstance mistake non-interest for shakara.. Thats just dumb...  Seriously :|

What's love without the gucci bags?

I was having a conversation with a friend the other day about dating below your social/financial status. Bearing in mind that we're both quite young, the turn of this conversation might surprise you. "Me: So *insert friend's name here*, would you ever go out with *insert boy's name here*?
Friend: Ehn!? God forbid! Please I'd rather someone buy me a channel bag than cabin biscuit."
I proceeded to laugh my ass off after that statement because I actually found it hilarious at the time. Thinking about it later it didn't seem all that funny anymore. Its actually sad how girls/ladies/women today are sooo materialistic! One wouldn't expect teenagers to be so money conscious but its sad to say that females are becoming more money hungry younger and younger these days! I wouldn't be surprised if an 8year old girl stopped talking to a boy because he only got her a 'common' card for vals day! I mean its crazy! But hey! That's life as we know it now right? Don't get me wrong, this is no alter call or special intervention for all you golddiggers or aristo chicks out there. Far from it actually! Because really and truly, we ladies have to ask ourselves this fundamental question before we rush into replying that 'will you go out with me'/ 'how do you feel about me' text or for the older *lucky* ones out there the 'will you marry me' proposal - What's love without the gucci bags?
Hahaha! I can imagine guys shaking their heads to this and thinking of a hundred ways to kill me right this instant. Remain calm gentlemen. :p
Now back to the ladies, I don't know what your own equivalent of a "gucci bag" is. It might be something worth much more or a bit less but remember, we weren't all born to suffer abeg! Long gone are the days when we had to "grow" with our men *rme*. If he ain't grown, toss him to the side! *these nails can't be changing no diapers if you know what I mean*. What I don't understand is why young beautiful girls will leave their comfort zones under the guise of "love". Sorry to burst your love bubble but when your broke hunny pie finally makes it, chances are that he'll leave your ass for a thinner, prettier, fake boob'd bitch! And all you'll be left with are the photos of you guys "growing" together. This is not to say I'm totally against falling in love with a not-so-made guy. Atall oo! I say, buy all means go for Mr looking-for-job-only-have-one-good-pair-of-shoes. Tbh, I have loads of respect for ladies like that! So much courage! Gosh! But not all of us can be like that I.e Ruth *aboko ku* lol. As for me, I'm on my way to becoming anorexic, marrying a footballer and living my own equivalent of a happily ever after, but that's just me ;)

***DISCLAIMER: I do not encourage any extreme acts of desperation just to catch a 'big fish' and will not be held liable for any damages incurred in the process. And for the guys out there, don't feel the need to steal or lie just to impress any lady, we *the smart ones* have a special eye for that and we WILL eventually catch you out! +++ If you decide to take all this seriously or to heart, that's your own cup of tea :)

Take care. x's and o's, her royal awesomeness :)

Hand me downs.

Hi people!! :D
Awww!! I can see y'all are excited to hear from me, ay ay?? ;) *cos in my head thousands of people ruusshh to read my bants :$* don't worry I missed ranting too lol.
Ok so I'm assuming 90% of the people reading this are most likely nigerian so you will definitely understand my question ... What's up with Nigerians and hand-me-downs?!
No no no! I just can't take it anymore! Is it a crime to be born after a previous child?? It's so bad that even if you're a boy and you have an older sister you'll still wear her dresses in those couple of months (or years as the case may be) that people cannot tell if you're a boy or a girl. If you were ever in that situation, I sympathise greatly with you. Lol.
Why, the intense heating of blood you might be wondering? Ok, lemme play out this scenario for y'all: A has lived all her life in her "big" sister, B's shadow. The big is in quote because she is at least two dress sizes bigger than her "big" sister. But does that stop their oh soo nigerian mother from insisting she wear her "big" sister's discarded and rejected clothes? Ha! You guessed right! ... It doesn't, for the slow ones out there :|.
Now fast forward a couple of years to the training bra age. A is convinced that now the she's growing boobs, her mother will be forced to buy her at least underwear of her own (not to worry she doesn't wear hand me down pants oo) just for her mother to bring out a box of B's old bras, you can imagine the disappointment A felt! All she ever wanted was to have something that was truly hers and not passed down from someone else who rejected it or got tired of it.

Which brings me to my main point: how many of us are tired of hand me downs? How many of us just want our very own shit for once! And it doesn't have to be your older siblings clothes or something of sort. It could be anything really, you might be tired of getting your friends ex boyfriends/girlfriends, tired of getting the last piece of rejected chicken (usually the neck. Yuk!) Or even tired of taken over unwanted job posts or whatever hand-me-down situation you find yourself in.
Basically, no one ever wants to be the second choice or the fall back option. I personally believe that every one should have at least one thing that they can call their own. So I say to all the side chicks and alleged boyfriend snatchers out there, take a hint from A, don't settle for someone else's underwear! You deserve better, go out there, strut your stuff and get you a man who's for you and only YOU!

So that's it beautiful people :) till next time, I remain your awesome queen, stay blessed and make sure you come back!!! It's an order!! Ok ok I joke I kid, do come back tho :) .. I'm not begging btw! Ok I'm gonna go now... X's and O's

...and then I created a blog :)

Ok, so I've been thinking of making/creating a blog for a really long time now(well actually since the very first episode I saw of sex and the city- which I watched on series channel with my mum and might I add, was verrryy veerryy awkward!). Let's just say I'm the queen of procrastination cos this was when I was about 14!  But I was never really sure what it was gonna be about or what I was gonna name it so the urge to make one died down for a bit... Then I stumbled across the now famous BellaNaija's blog and the urge came up again, unfortunately high school life had me all caught up and of course naija internet also didn't help matters *rolls eyes*

Fast forward a couple of years to 2010 : finally decided my thoughts were just too awesome to keep to myself and I absolutely had to share them with the world :D
So my journey to creating a blog started in november 2010. First there were a couple of issues I needed to overcome...
ISSUE 1 - what to call my blog... I had to give it a name befitting my awesome fabulousity! ;;) lol.. So my options were as follows :
- Awesome fabulousity :|
- life and times of the rominator *Epic fail!!*
- Read this, its cool :|
*as you can see! I'm not the most innovative person, bite me! :p*

Finally!!! It came to me in the dead of the night as I was desperately trying to fall asleep on my unbelievably tiny-single-bunk bed, but random thoughts kept popping into my head like irritating pop ups on a not-so-legit website. That eureka moment that lights up your life for a split second and all you see is light! *a bit dramatic I know but hey, I'm easily excitable its not my fault ok!?* and then I knew I had a fitting name for where I am in life right now, right under the lightbulb it read: Rants and Bants of an unsatisfied teen :)

ISSUE 2 - what user name to err use(?) *this sentence sounds a bit dodgy, english can be a trip sometimes..sigh*
Ok- obviously I don't have a very "funky" name, any nickname formed from my name either sounds like a really cheesy baby name or a female wrestlers stage name which let's be honest, is not very awesome or fabulous :| (which I am)
You might be wondering why I didn't  just use my real name - I'm no Perez hilton ok!! My name is cool sounding and catchy like that! Don't judge me!! *angry face* . Plus I wanted something that wasn't as OBVIOUS as my facebook, twitter, bbm, skype and even MSN name! Sheesh!! Is that too much to ask for?! Long story short, I chose chEEks(simply Romoke)- chEEks being a nickname from my buddyyy M! :D and (simply Romoke)- because tbh that's just who I am :)...

With those issues taken care of I begin my debut as a blogger!! So feel free to welcome the coolest new kid on the block to the blog world B)

So till next time, remember you're awesome, God loves you and you all secretly want to be me!!! I JOKE! *looks left and right* :|  X's et O's
